The Basics We March No Matter What

Your journey starts here. Welcome to the frontier of heroism. To plan the best Kidney March possible, and with your best interests at heart, we are proud to announce that Kidney March 2021 will continue in a virtual format this year.  Kidney March means doing the most you can do to fight against kidney disease, fight for organ donation, and support everyone in our community.  No matter where we are across the globe, and no matter what comes our way, our team is excited to keep you connected and once again bring the Kidney March experience to you. Our commitment to our kidney community remains stronger than ever. 2020 proved that nothing will stop us, and we can’t wait to knock it out of the park again this year!

Kidney March is an experience, one which will move you in more ways than you can imagine.  We ask you to walk the farthest you have ever walked, raise the most money you have ever raised, and commit to truly making a difference.

Overview

Walk 100 kilometres. Raise a minimum of $2,200. Whether you are marching the 100 km or supporting as Crew, you will make the biggest difference you’ve ever made in your life. This year’s march allows you to participate no matter where you are! Participants will walk in their communities, united by the common purpose to fulfill our Kidney March commitment to improve the lives of those affected by kidney disease.

The Event

Kidney March is more than an event, it is a movement to action. It is a community of people rallying in support of each other. It is an experience that will take you beyond your limits but reward you for pushing those limits in more ways than you ever thought possible.

Marchers
Part 1 • From Aug 9 – Sept 9, 2021 walk and complete 70 KM.
Part 2 • On Kidney March weekend, Sept 10 – 12, 2021 walk and complete 10 KM per day, for a total of 30 KM. Don’t forget to set up your at-home Kidney March CAMP!
By the final day of Kidney March, everyone will have completed their 100 KM.

Make it your own: The above are the suggested event guidelines to keep you safe. We understand everyone is at different levels of fitness, with various degrees of support. Do what is right for you.  Some may want to challenge themselves more and others might want to break the distance into smaller parts. Whatever you decide, talk to us about your plans so we can help you meet your 100km goal safely.

Crew
Crew will  fundraise and support Marchers with creative and unique ways of spreading Crew spirit! Crew teams are limited, and Crew registration will be closed on March 18, 2021.

• Once registered all participants will receive a Marcher or Crew Manual with more detailed information on all the event activities.

HOW FUNDRAISING WORKS

Each Marcher agrees to raise a minimum of $2,200. We hope you’ll raise much more – most people do. We’re here to support you. We’ll do one-on-one coaching and provide a variety of online tools to make the process as smooth as possible. The key to fundraising is to ask. Ask and ask and ask. The more you ask, the more you’ll raise. Visit the Fundraising Page for a Tool Kit, resources and more information. Ask us for help. Contact Us for more ideas and support.

Kidney March FAQ’s

The experience of a lifetime. Maybe the biggest challenge you’ve ever undertaken. We know there’s a whole heap of questions you must have, everyone does. Here are some answers to some of the most commonly asked. And remember – our Kidney March team is here for you every single step of the way.

Q. WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM NOW UNTIL THE KIDNEY MARCH WEEKEND?

A. To hear from us: Our Kidney March team will be calling you and staying in touch via email to keep you updated on upcoming events, promotions, and more. Once you register, we will mail you a registration package, and in August you will receive your event package with all the goodies you will need for the Kidney March weekend. We will provide event instructions and an itinerary with all our weekend activities and online opportunities to connect with each other. Our virtual format will include a mileage tracking app, Opening and Closing Ceremonies and community building activities.

Q. WILL I GET HELP FUNDRAISING?

A. Absolutely.  You will have great online tools, support from our staff the Kidney March team, and access to proven fundraising strategies to reach your goals. The average participant will meet or exceed their fundraising expectations quickly and easily.

Q. WHAT RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE TO ME?

A. There are several resources available on our website, and you can contact our team anytime for special requests.

Q. Why are you going virtual again for 2021?

A. COVID-19 remains a public health threat. Due to the current global pandemic, both national and provincial gathering restrictions come into play, but the safety of our community is our number one reason for our decision. Your health, and the health of all those participating in our community who might be most at-risk of severe outcomes cannot be put at further risk by our activities. We must work together to protect each other.  In addition, an event of this magnitude requires months of preplanning. During these uncertain times, many of the resources and vendors we need to safely and successfully host our Kidney March route and camp are not available. Making the decision to go virtual allows our team to put all their effort and energy into planning the most amazing event possible for all our participants. We are moving forward with excitement, hope, and optimism.  We know that this year will be another fantastic year.
