Kidney March 2020 Celebration & Alumni Reunion

Watch with us Saturday October 24, 2020 at 7:00 pm MT

Although we can’t be together in person, nothing will stop us from celebrating everyone who has made Kidney March what it is today – Marchers, Crew, donors, sponsors and volunteers! In our 11 years, Kidney March has raised over $9.5 million to change the lives of kidney patients and their families. This life-changing achievement is thanks to you, our Kidney March family, and it’s time to celebrate your ongoing support for the kidney community. Learn about the achievements of 2020, watch special messages from marchers, be the first to see the 2020 video and the Trailblazer item, and leave inspired for 2021!

Whatever 2021 brings, we are marching no matter what!
Register before December 1, 2020, to be a Trailblazer

What is a Trailblazer? Trailblazers boldly lead the way for Kidney March 2021 by registering before December 1, 2020 and committing to raising a minimum of $2,200. In recognition of this, Trailblazers receive a high-end clothing item to wear proudly. (Watch the Alumni to see what it will be!)

What to Expect for Kidney March 2020

We are proud and excited to present our new Kidney March 2020!
Kidney patients need us more now than ever, and we know you will rise to the occasion. Thanks to our amazing, dedicated and passionate community, Kidney March 2020 will be another extraordinary year!  Failure is Not an Option.

How will Kidney March 2020 Look?
This year’s march allows you to participate no matter where you are! Participants will walk from their communities, across Canada and beyond, united by the common purpose to fulfill our Kidney March commitment.  We will make the boldest statement ever in the battle against kidney disease and for organ donation.

Completing the 100 KM:
Part 1 • Marchers will have from August 10th – September 10th to walk and complete 70 KM. By creating a plan, this goal can easily be achieved! For example, you can reach this by walking 2.3 KM per day for 30 days.
Part 2 • On Kidney March weekend, September 11th – 13th Marchers will walk and complete 10 KM per day, for a total of 30 KM.
Marchers will then have reached their 100 KM goal by the final day of Kidney March!

Crew will still be supporting our Marchers in this new format.

Our virtual format will include a mileage tracking app, Opening and Closing Ceremonies and evening activities; like our famous Kidney-O-Kee!
We will provide instructions for the app and an itinerary with all of our weekend activities and online opportunities to connect with each other.

Kidney March’s unique packing list

Whether you are a pack in advance or a late into the night before kind of person, here’s a list of items, unique to Kidney March, that you’ll want to remember to throw in your duffle bag. And a quick note about that duffle bag, you will be allowed one gear bag weighing up to 18 kg including the weight of your sleeping bag and sleeping pad or air mattress. Pads and air mattresses should be packed inside or securely fastened to your gear bag. Be sure to pack your clothing and sleeping bag in a plastic bag in case of rain. We recommend a large backpack or duffel bag, not a suitcase. And please attach your luggage tag (that you’ll receive at Day Zero) to the outside of your bag.

The Must Haves:

  • Kidney March T-Shirt

Go ahead wear it to Opening Ceremonies. You’ll earn another one over the weekend to wear to Closing Ceremonies.

  • Kidney March Name Tag

You’ll get this on Day Zero. Please wear it. We want to get to know you. Plus there is all kinds of important and helpful information inside your name tag booklet.

  • Running Shoes

Preferably two pairs of worn-in shoes you have been alternately training in.

  • Water Bottle(s)

Pack one for water and one for Gatorade to keep you fueled while on the road. There will be Kidney March water bottles available for purchase at the Day Zero Store and at the General Store at camp.

  • Socks

    Lots of moisture wicking socks!

Whatever the Weather:

  • Sunscreen

  • Rain poncho

  • Hat, cap and/or visor

  • Sunglasses

  • Mitts and toque for those chilly mornings

To Keep on Marching and Crewing:

  • Anti-blister aids

  • Petroleum jelly or Body Glide

Then there’s camp:

  • Washcloth, towels and toiletries

  • Sleeping bag

  • Flashlight and extra batteries

  • Roll or pad for tent floor

  • Pillow

  • Earplugs

And the fun stuff:

  • Camera

  • Greek wear

Yes, you read that right. Get ready to say OPA at Kidney March’s Greek night. Pack your toga or Laurel Leaf Headband.

  • Costumes, cow bells, funny hats, and noise makers

Anything really that you can think of to make marching and crewing a blast.
